Photo Contest

We’d like to see and share your favorite fishing and boating photos. 

USDA/APHIS’ Focus On Fish Health campaign invites you to enter the 2011 Focus on Fish Health photo contest. 

You can compete in two categories: 

  1. Your Best Catch
  2. Family Fun On The Water

We are especially interested in photos of people doing their part to protect fish and other aquatic life in our scenic lakes, rivers and waterways.

One winner will be chosen in each category each month for a 4 month period beginning in May 2011.  All photos submitted will be featured on the Focus On Fish Health website in the month following the selection. Winners will also receive a Focus On Fish Health duffle bag. 

Your color photos should accurately reflect the subject matter, and the main image should not be digitally altered beyond removing dust, cropping, cleaning up the background and making reasonable adjustments to exposure, color and contrast.

All photos will be credited with the person’s name and state.

Contest Rules

Privacy
All information will be contained on a secure server and will not be used for any purpose other than the contest.

General Guidelines
1. Submitted images must be in color and each should be no larger than 2 MB and in .jpg format.

2. Participants may submit no more than 3 photos per month.

3. Photos must be the work of the person submitting (unless a parent or other responsible adult is submitting for a minor), and the photographer must own all rights to the works submitted. The photographer retains ownership of all submitted images. By submitting your photos you are granting USDA/APHIS the right to reproduce, display and publish your images without compensation, and you are indicating that individuals in your photos have agreed to allow the USDA to reproduce, display or publish the photos that contain their likeness in any manner and without compensation.

Deadlines
The deadline for submitting entries for each of the 4 months is May 31, June 30, July 31 and August 31, 2011. Entries submitted for a particular month will be considered for that month only, unless they are resubmitted.

Judging
Judging will be done by members of the USDA/APHIS public affairs staff, the Center for Food Security and Public Health at Iowa State University and Diversity Marketing Communications.  Images will be judged on overall impact, composition, technical quality and artistic merit.  Decisions will be made by the first week of  June, July, August and September.  One winner per category per month will be selected.  Winner(s) will be notified by e-mail.

USDA/APHIS reserves the right to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the photo competition.
